The interview with S.F.P .:

"I approached watercolors to experiment in the field of mixed techniques, fusing photography, digital art and painting. The watercolors for their characteristic transparency that favors the relationship light-color, have proved to be the most suitable to intervene on photographs printed on cotton paper becoming with the same a single body without overly covering as would happen with the tempera and acrylic. You have the great advantage of glazing, being able to increase the consistency of color by repeating several times even after the time until you get the desired density without reaching a total coverage unless you want it. After a long time in which I expressed myself by combining the above mentioned techniques, appreciating more and more the brilliance and luminosity obtainable with watercolors, I wanted to deepen the technique and I was conquered to use them as an artistic practice separate from the others.
For me that come from photography and then from an artistic discipline in which there is a necessarily calculated technical attitude, I found that using the watercolors instead the spontaneity expressed is partly due to the method of application, the water that is uses to dilute the pigment tends to dry quickly and this factor induces to work quickly. In fact, the technical gesture is, compared to other painting techniques and artistic in general, more driven by an instinctive component that, less controlled and less filtered, favors spontaneous creativity.

In the language of water painting, color becomes pure emotional vehicle in soft atmospheres purified of any excess of realism, an almost fairytale world so much so that the subject is not necessarily decisive.

Among the merits of watercolor, great importance is attributed to the freshness and chromatic brilliance that characterize the works. These two elements constitute the essence of the typical expressive immediacy registered with this technique. By observing a work painted with watercolors, one perceives a general sense of airiness without the subjects determining a narrowing of the visual space. These are the backgrounds of color and the different atmospheres generated by the tones and the half tones to become the subject of the whole. "
